브렌트우드 Brentwood 보행 중심의 커뮤니티
On its website, Grosvenor is marketing Brentwood Block as “the first pedestrian-focused” community in Brentwood, saying that all cars will be accessing underground parking from the site’s periphery, while pedestrian-oriented public spaces and green spaces, including landscaped trails and cycling routes, will make up most of the space in between the various buildings.
This initiative is aimed at creating a more walkable and community-oriented environment, which is becoming increasingly important in urban planning.

Key Features of the Brentwood Block Community
주요 특징
- Underground Parking: The design prioritizes pedestrians by routing all vehicular access to underground parking facilities located at the periphery of the site. This minimizes car traffic in the main areas of the development, making it safer and more pleasant for pedestrians.
- Pedestrian-Oriented Public Spaces: The project will feature a variety of public spaces designed specifically for pedestrian use. This includes plazas, gathering areas, and pathways that encourage community interaction and socializing.
- Green Spaces: The inclusion of landscaped trails and cycling routes not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the community but also promotes environmentally friendly transportation options. These green spaces are essential for residents’ well-being, providing areas for relaxation and recreational activities.
- Community Engagement: By focusing on pedestrian access and community spaces, the Brentwood Block project aims to foster a sense of belonging among residents. The design encourages people to walk, cycle, and engage with their surroundings, contributing to a more vibrant community.
브렌트우드 Brentwood block project 지속 가능성에 대한 약속
Grosvenor says Brentwood Block will also exceed the City of Burnaby’s sustainability requirements and meet the company’s own 2030 commitment to achieve Net Zero Operational Carbon, through the use of energy-efficient building envelopes and low carbon systems. Grosvenor is also committing $8M towards public art that will be located throughout Brentwood Block.
Grosvenor’s Brentwood Block project is positioned not only as a significant residential development but also as a leader in sustainability and community investment.
Net Zero Operational Carbon by 2030
This goal involves incorporating energy-efficient building designs, which are expected to reduce energy consumption significantly. The use of low-carbon systems will also contribute to lowering greenhouse gas emissions during the operational phase of the buildings
브렌트우드 Brentwood block project 개발 일정
According to a May 2022 report to Council, the full build out of Brentwood Block is expected to take approximately 12 years, although City staff note that the timing can potentially be impacted by market conditions. The City also said that it would be making use of covenants to ensure the non-market rental units are provided early on.
